Who teaches you how to become a life-saving hero?

Meet your first aid trainer, Jenny Legg

My name is Jenny Legg, and I will be your first aid trainer.

I set up Training Legs First Aid in 2019 because I love teaching people how to become life-saving heroes. Also, I love hearing their stories.

I’m aware that some first aid courses can feel dull… but that’s not the case here. My courses are engaging, interactive and surprisingly good fun because in my world, when you’re laughing you’re learning.

How I became a first aid trainer

I started teaching first aid back in 2008 while working in the Learning and Development team at St Mungo’s. They needed to train the charity’s staff in several different areas and I chose first aid.

It was a baptism of fire because between just two of us we trained 2,000 members of staff.

Since then, I’ve helped many thousands more people gain skills, knowledge and confidence in practical first aid and first aid for mental health — knowledge which can make the difference between life and death.

    Bra Off Defib On

The Bra Off Defib On (BODO) campaign began in 2022. I founded it to raise awareness that proper pad placement and bra removal is essential for saving a woman’s life when using a defibrillator.

Most people don’t realise that you must remove the bra before using a defibrillator. It gets in the way when placing the pads, and bra underwriting can interfere with the electric shock.

BODO training is now included in all the Training Legs practical first aid courses. It shows you exactly how to use a defibrillator safely, pad placement and the all-important bra removal — also known as… baring the chest to save the rest.
